Svala Sweater
All sweaters will ship October 15th.
The Svala Sweater
A retro Icelandic wool sweater, brought back for everyday wear.
Inspired by an original design from the 1980s, the Svala Sweater brings a piece of Icelandic knitwear history back to life. It’s made from 100% Icelandic wool, with a bold pattern that feels just as at home today as it did decades ago.
Svala is knitted using a different technique from our Saga Sweater, giving it a thicker, more compact feel. It’s a substantial sweater made for cold days, with the character and texture that make Icelandic wool so special.
We wanted to keep everything we loved about the original: its warmth, its playful retro look, and the feeling of finding a sweater you’ll want to wear for years to come.
Size Guide
Our sweaters are designed with a relaxed, oversized fit, made for comfort and layering. If you prefer a more fitted look, we recommend sizing down.
To find your size, the best thing to do is to measure a sweater you have that fits you. Then find the measurements of the sweater in the size chart below.

Import Fees
All orders ship from Iceland. Depending on your location, import duties and taxes may apply.
United States: Import duties are calculated and added at checkout. We ship your order with duties prepaid. The shipping price also includes a $34 Merchandise Processing Fee required by US Customs, charged once per shipment. This is a US import fee, not a fee charged by Fjara. You won’t be asked to pay additional import charges on delivery.
European Union: Prices do not include EU VAT. Your local customs authority or carrier will collect any applicable charges upon import. Icelandic-made sweaters are duty-free and are only subject to your local VAT rate (typically around 17–27%, depending on the country). Soft Collection sweaters, made in Nepal, may be subject to both import duty and VAT.
Other countries: Import duties and taxes vary by destination and may be collected upon delivery.
About Icelandic Wool
Our sweaters are made from 100% Icelandic wool.
It’s a natural material, just the way it’s meant to be, which means it can feel a bit rough against the skin for some. Because of that, we always recommend wearing a layer underneath. A long-sleeved thermal top works perfectly.
This wool hasn’t been heavily processed or softened in a factory, and that’s part of what makes it so special. It’s durable, breathable, and made to handle the elements.
Over time, the sweater will adapt to your body, becoming softer with wear and shaping itself more naturally to you.
